Automatic Stabilizers
Automatic stabilizers 是不需要政府臨時採取新行動，就會在 recession 時自動刺激 aggregate demand 的 fiscal policy mechanism。
Tax system
當經濟衰退、income 下降時，個人與企業繳的 tax 會自動下降。
這會讓 disposable income 不至於和 before-tax income 一樣大幅下降，因此 consumption 下降較少，AD 比較穩定。
Government transfers
Unemployment insurance、welfare 等 transfer payment 會在 recession 時自動增加。
失業者收到補助後仍能維持部分 consumption，因此 aggregate demand 的下降會被緩和。
為什麼重要
Automatic stabilizers 的優點是不用等待新的立法或政策決策，因此避開一部分 implementation lag。
它們不一定能完全消除 recession，但可以讓 aggregate demand 的波動比較小。
